We are looking for a fulltime qualified and dedicated teacher for Film and Media Studies starting August 2026.
The new colleague will participate fully as a team member in the art department and within the whole school. At UWC Maastricht every teacher is considered to be part of the pastoral care structure. We invite applications for a full time combined teaching position of IB DP Film (year 12/13) and IB MYP Media Studies (year 10/11) . We are seeking an experienced educator with proven results who can design, lead and further develop a cohesive Film and Media pathway. The successful candidate will build a strong conceptual and technical foundations in MYP Media studies and ensure a purposeful progression into the IB DP Film course.
Across both courses, the teacher will nurture students’ creativity, visual literacy, critical thinking, cultural awareness, while developing their practical production skills, including scripting, storyboarding, cinematography, editing, and sound design, while fostering effective collaboration, organisation, and reflective practice. The DP Film programme requires a broad skill set as an educator, both in film analysis and writing as well as practical film production. Working knowledge of film equipment – cameras, lights, sound recorders, editing is a requisite. This full‑time position offers an exciting opportunity to teach the school’s media and film studies program across year groups, empowering students to become thoughtful, skilled, and responsible creators and analysts in an increasingly visual world.
Education degree and professional experience
- Completed Master degree desired in an Arts subject, fcoused on Film/Media.
- (International) Teaching Qualification / Certificate, like a Bachelor or Master in Education or QTS with induction, that qualifies for accreditation according to the Dutch educational system.
- Successful experience as a teacher in an international IB school is preferred

Professional competencies
The successful candidate has proven experience in teaching groups of secondary students, has a Film / Media background and is fluent in English.

Terms of Employment
- You will get a temporary contract of employment, starting 1 August 2026, under Dutch law: it is a contract as Film and Media Studies Teacher for 1.0 FTE: on average 40 hours per week, initially for one year and can be renewed after that.
- The package will be commensurate with the responsibilities of the position, according to the Dutch Collective Labour Agreement for Secondary Education (‘CAO VO’). The salary is based on years of experience and lies between €3.622,- and €5.520- per month on a full time basis.
- Participation in the school’s pension plan via the ABP Retirement/Pension Fund.
- Support in the application for the ‘30% Facility for Incoming Employees’ with the Dutch Tax Authorities (if relevant).
To be able to work in the Netherlands, a (foreign) staff member must be able to successfully apply for:
✔ Residence and work permits for the Netherlands
✔ A Dutch VOG (certificate of good conduct)
