Teacher of Economics and Integrated Humanities

We are seeking an experienced full-time DP Economics teacher and MYP Integrated Humanities teacher for students aged between 11 and 18, starting on 1 August 2026.

The new colleagues will participate fully as a team member in our Secondary School with almost 700 students, and within the whole school. There is also an opportunity to offer Theory of Knowledge as part of the Core of the Diploma Programme. Prior experience is preferred.

Education degree and professional experience 

  • Completed Bachelor’sandMaster’s degrees in Economics. 
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in an IB school and working with the IB MYP and CP/DP program. Additional IB training is preferred. 
  • (International) Teaching Qualification / Certificate, like a Bachelor and Master in Education or QTS with induction, that qualifies for accreditation according to the Dutch educational system. Your qualifications allow you to work with the age group 11-18.

Who are you? 

You are confident, experienced and passionate about inquiry, concept-based learning and project-based learning; 
You can demonstrate understanding of recent developments in pedagogical best practice; 
You have previous experience working in a system that has external examination; 
You are familiar and fluent with technology supported learning and technologically competent; 
You have experience with utilizing and managing Microsoft software for course organization, content delivery, and student engagement; 
You have awareness of the need to create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the physical, social, and emotional development of children; 
You love to work with transient student populations and Third Culture Kids.

Terms of Employment 

You will get a full time temporary contract of employment under Dutch law: the initial contract is until August 1, 2027. After a positive appraisal, your contract can be extended for another year before we decide on a permanent contract. DUO accreditation is a hard requirement for a permanent contract. 

The salary is monthly gross between € 3622,- and € 5520,- based on the LB pay scale in the Collective Labour Agreement for Secondary Education in the Netherlands, the salary will be based on years of relevant experience. We also have a holiday allowance of 8% to be paid in May and 8,33% End of year allowance to be paid in December each year.

To be able to work in the Netherlands, a (foreign) staff member must be able to successfully apply for: 

  • Residence and work permits for the Netherlands. 
  • A Dutch VOG (certificate of good conduct). 

UWCM will assist in the application process for residence and work permits and VOG.
