Programme Coordinator

We are seeking an experienced full time Programme Coordinator to be part of our Community Engagement team, starting on 1 August 2026. This role leads the school’s sustainability vision by connecting students, staff, and the wider community around shared goals. The work includes student mentoring, curriculum alignment, operational sustainability, monitoring reporting to different stakeholders, data collection and community partnerships as well as communication strategy design for our school’s sustainability vision. Besides that, you will coordinate the Youth Social Entrepreneurship Program, and when needed, other projects and initiatives within the Community Engagement team. 

Due to the visa/work permit requirements, we can only appoint people with an EU-passport or valid work permit for the Netherlands.

Education degree and Professional experience  

  • Relevant Bechalor’s and/or Master’s degrees in Sustainability related fields, including policies, engineering or sciences
  • Proven experience in mentoring students and managing sustainability related projects

Professional Competencies

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, Dutch is a plus
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Knowledge and passion for nature, outdoors and overall sustainability
  • Proactive and collaborative attitude and a team player
  • No 9 to 5 work mentality. Working during the evenings and weekends is sometimes required
  • Previous UWC experience is a plus

Terms of Employment 

  • You will get a temporary contract of employment, starting 1 August 2026, under Dutch law: it is a contract as Programme Coordinator for 1.0 FTE: on average 40 hours per week, initially for one year and can be renewed after that. 
  • The package will be commensurate with the responsibilities of the position, according to the Dutch Collective Labour Agreement for Secondary Education (‘CAO VO’). The salary is based on years of experience and lies between €3.022,- and €4.449,- per month on a full time basis. 
  • Participation in the school’s pension plan via the ABP Retirement/Pension Fund. 
  • Support in the application for the ‘30% Facility for Incoming Employees’ with the Dutch Tax Authorities (if eligible). 
  • Location: UWC Maastricht, the Netherlands.  

To be able to work in the Netherlands, a (foreign) staff member must be able to successfully apply for:   

  • A Dutch VOG (certificate of good conduct).   

  • Police clearance from foreign country of residence (if applicable). 

UWCM will assist in the application process for a VOG.
