Putting AI into Practice

Over the past 2 months, 25 UWC Maastricht teachers have been exploring GenAI under the supervision of Wim Hoogedeure. Not as a replacement but as a smart partner in the classroom.
The impact? Remarkable! Take Ruth, for example. She reimagined how she teaches the periodic table using AI. When her students said, “That was fun, I actually understand it now!”, she knew something had shifted. Meanwhile, our multilingual literature teachers used AI to generate detailed and personalised feedback in each student’s native language, cutting the workload from 10 days to just 4. And no, teachers are not doing less. With AI, they are doing more of what matters: inspiring, coaching and connecting with students.
