The Foundation UWCM does this by:
- Cooperating within the governance structure at UWCM
- Cooperating with other UWC entities in the Netherlands and abroad
- Raising needs-based scholarships for students at UWCM
- Raising funds for special activities, programs and facilities at UWCM
- Promoting special events and social entrepreneurship activities at UWCM
- Supporting the development of an alumni platform at UWCM
The Foundation can use all legal means to enhance these goals and to obtain all the necessary means from government and administrative councils, companies, funds, financial institutions, including lotteries and individuals. The Foundation does not aim at making a profit and/or pursue commercial interests.
Monitoring and evaluation
A risk analysis is made each year and shared with the Coop UWCM as from 2015.

Requisite for board members is commitment to the international UWC mission statement and to the whole school UWCM.
Competences include: ability to cooperate, initiative, sense of responsibility and the specific skills required for the various functions. Good governance norms apply. Every conflict of interests must be avoided and if such a conflict arises, it must be reported immediately and so that adequate measures can be taken.
On average, the Board meets 4 to 6 times a year.
The Foundation aims to provide complete transparency concerning its activities and finances. It therefore publishes its annual (financial) reports, its yearly (activities’) reports and its policy plan (see below).
The board of UWC Maastricht are volunteers who in accordance with the statutes receive no remuneration.

At present, there is a Taskforce Fundraising (operating under the responsibility of St. UWCNL) in which the Head of College also participates (contacting – amongst others – parents and National Committees).Various segments have been identified and different activities are undertaken, such as fundraising dinners, fundraising trips to various Colleges, sportive events to raise money, PR at the TEFAF, alumni fundraising events, and special activities.
During the past years, aside from the loyal support of a number of committed individuals, firms and many alumni, generous donations have been given by the Emir of Qatar and the Sultan of Oman. These donations have served to provide scholarships to boarding students from all over the world based on merit and needs, and to initiate a pilot programme Social Entrepreneurship for the IB students, broaden the range of Outdoor activities, facilitate Guest lectures and set up a Counselling Programme.
At present, a UWCM Impact Fund is being set up to expand on the Social Entrepreneurship pilot.
All funding raised (after subtraction of possible fundraising and/or overhead costs) goes directly towards paying invoices for the international education and boarding costs of students, activities and programmes of the school UWCM, and whatever is necessary to support its activities and ensure its long-term sustainability, diversity and selection procedures based on merit and means-based scholarships.
Partner organisations include, amongst others, Stichting UWC Nederland, Stichting Beurzenfonds Nederland, UWC International and all the United World Colleges.
